Description

The grid assists drawing by providing a reference point in modelling space and displaying coordinate information in uniform steps. The grid is defined in all three directions of the coordinate system although it is only displayed on one plane usually the x,y plane. However, in buttocks and station view it is displayed in x,z and y,z planes respectively. Grid spacing is defined in the PolyCAD Options Panel -> Manipulation Options and there is an additional parameter Major frequency that defines at which grid frequency grid lines should be displayed using a difference color. The color of both grid line types is defined on the PolyCAD Options Panel -> Colors using the Major Grid Color and Minor Grid Color parameters. If both parameters have the same color, the major grid lines will not be visible. Display of the grid can be turned on and off using grid in PolyCAD Options Panel -> Manipulation Options or by double clicking on the Grid panel of the Status Bar.

Snap to Grid

The control polygon of most entities can snap to the grid to make the dimensioning and initial sizing of entities easier. Entities which are parametric in nature may not support the Snap to Grid option if it is likely to cause undesirable behaviour during interactive manipulation. The Snap to Grid feature is available regardless of whether the grid is visible. The feature can be turned on and off using the Snap to Grid option in PolyCAD Options Panel -> Manipulation Options or by double clicking on the Snap to Grid panel of Status Bar.
